This year’s Artecámara section, entitled Do It While You’re Young, was curated by La Usurpadora and included the participation of twenty-five artists, two independent art spaces, and three groups. The exhibition focused on the analogy between Janis Ian’s song Stars, sung by Nina Simone at the 1976 Montreux Jazz Festival, and Artecámara as a space for young, adventurous artists who are willing to experiment.
The exhibition and dialogue between the works were organized into five chapters:
• Portrait of the Artist as a Teenager
• Here is Any Place
• Last Day on Earth
• When Mysticism Becomes Form
• Titled & Untitled
