Emiliano Valdés works as the chief curator of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín in Colombia. He worked as an associate curator for the Biennial of Art in Gwangju, South Korea. Previously, he was director and curator of the Centro Cultural de España in Guatemala and has codirected Proyectos Ultravioleta in the same country. Emiliano Valdés’ work has been essential in the growth of the art scene in Guatemala. Recently, he curated Guatemala desde 33,000 km de
distancia: Arte contemporáneo de 1960 al presente, a retrospective exhibition on modern and contemporary art in Guatemala. As chief curator of the MAMM he has curated expositions such as Allora & Calzadilla, La noche que volvimos a ser gente from Carlos Amorales, Herramientas de trabajo from Carlos Motta, Formas de libertad, Oscuro diario and Deseo: Una exposición sobre el amor, el sexo y la lujuria.
