Helena Producciones is an artist collective formed by Wilson Díaz, Ana María Millán, Claudia Patricia Sarria, Andrés Sandoval and Gustavo Racines. Helena is a space for research on topics related to artistic production, its more renowned project is the Festival de Performance de Cali, which is soon to have tis eight edition and has become a platform for both national and international artists. It has been supported three times by the Fundación Prince Claus, and the winner of the first version of the Visible Award of the Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto and Fondazione Zegna in 2011. Helena is a part of the Triangle Network, and their work has been exhibited at PASADO TIEMPO FUTURO, Arte en Colombia en el siglo XXI in MAMM (Medellín) in 2019; Cuerpo Pacífico in CAC (Quito) in 2015; Six Lines of Flight: Shifting Geographies in Contemporary Art at SFMOMA (San Francisco) in 2012; Living as Form, Creative Time (New York) in 2011; Cali en el Espejo, Or Gallery (Vancouver) 2007; To be Political It Has To Look Nice, Apexart (New York) in 2003; and De la representation a l'action, Le Plateau (Paris) in 2002.
Wilson Diaz Polanco develops artistic projects with different mediums such as painting, drawing, photography and performance. He explores the personal experience in relation to Colombian reality. In 2017 he was invited to the DAAD’s residency of the art program in Berlin. In 2008 he was a part of the curatorial team at Urgente 41 Salón Nacional de Artistas in Cali. In 1998 he won the XXXVII Salón Nacional de Artistas de Colombia award, and since then has participated in different national and international exhibitions.
Andres Sandoval Alba is a designer who works with visual arts and has done collaborations with different artists both nationally and internationally. He has a special interest in new media, animation, publication design and videogames. His work has been exhibited at Lugar a Dudas (Cali), Galería Santa Fé (Bogota) and mapped at Torre Colpatria (Bogota).
Ana María Millán is an artist whose work establishes associations between animation and fiction relative to digital culture and subcultures, gender and political propaganda. She has developed specific techniques based on role-playing games to create movies and animations. Millan speaks from the voice of amateur and mass culture. Among her exhibitions she has presented Ana María Millán - A Solo exhibition, Witte de With (Rotterdam) in 2018; Frío en Colombia, Nominados Premio Luis Caballero, Archivo General de la Nación (Bogotá) and AUTO-KINO! presented by Phil Collins, Temporäre Kunsthalle (Berlin) in 2009.
Claudia Patricia Sarria-Macías is an artista from the Instituto Departamental de Bellas Artes in Cali. Sarria-Macias has been a part of the construction and realization of diverse artistic, cultural and pedagogic projects, for which she has explored spaces for the exchange, promotion and participation within the arts scene. These have been alternated with curatorial, editorial and research projects along with Helena Producciones.
Gustavo Racines is a lawyer with art studies from the Instituto Popular de Cultura de Cali. Racines is a cultural producer and with Helena Producciones he has participated in curatorial projects that converge his interest for social practices, political activism and community work related to artistic practices.
