2017

This section featured 16 galleries with projects of artists selected and invited by the Brazilian curator Kiki Mazzucchelli. It presented works that brought to light specific historical or symbolic narratives and forms of knowledge expressed by material culture that have been silenced or forgotten by mainstream discourses, but which play an important role in binding communities together and creating spaces of freedom. The works included in Against Forgetting (Contra el Olvido) were not restricted to any specific media, geographies or historical periods. However, within their own context they all worked as powerful reminders of the ideas and practices that need to endure in the face of far-right strategies to globally curtail civil liberties and human rights.
