This exhibition is composed of 12 paintings, acrylic on canvas, painted since 2015, of the ABRAZOS serie, 10 paintings, acrylic on canvas of the TIEMPO DE PANDEMIA serie of 2020-2021 as well was 4 sculptures of the DULCE AMANECER serie of 2017.
For Maripaz Jaramillo, the theme of hugs has always been present. However, due to the pandemic she considers hugs to be even more relevant since this gesture of greeting and affection has had to be interrupted. Her paintings present hugs between couples that are in love, and others that are simply friends.
"The moment of reunion is now and what better way to celebrate it than with these works that highlight this wonderful gesture," says the artist.
The silhouettes, color and humor characteristic of the artist are embodied in these canvases where her signature style can carry many readings: passion, tension, attraction, struggle, power or seduction are some of the expressions that are a part of viewing her series ABRAZOS.
Through this exhibition, Mmasion Galería continues with its season of female artists. In the past, the gallery has shown work by artists such as Margarita Lozano and Freda Sargent, whose timelessness and legacy is reflected in their commitment to the development of the history of modern art.
