CENTORTHIP, NOT THE PAINTING, MUST GO: DANA SCHUTZ’S WORK AT THE WHITNEY BIENNIAL 

Examines the controversy surrounding the call for censorship at the Whitney Biennial in New York over the work of Dana Schutz, an American artist. She painted the disfigured corpse of Emmett Till, a fifteen yearold African-American who was lynched in 1955. Fusco explores the effects of censorship of an art work in the context of a biennial, in the actual politic and racial climate in the US.

DESECRATION OR SELF-CENSURESHIP?  JILL MAGID’S EXHIBITION AT MUAC IN MEXICO

Examines the work The Proposal by Jill Magid, an American artist, who made a diamond with the exhumed ashes of the Mexican architect Luis Barragán and tried to access his documents to create a body of works. The exhibition featured topics such as copyright, the commercialization of archives, cultural heritage and intellectual property.

QUESTIONING AND ENCOURAGING HISTORY

This conversation presents the work of African-American artist Dread Scott. What is the Proper Way to Display a U.S. Flag? (1988), questions the history of racism that has generated social and economic inequality in the USA. The artist will be in conversation with Steven Henry Madoff.
