PASADO FUTURISTA [FUTURISTIC PAST] - MATEO LÓPEZ Curated by: María Iovino
Pasado Futurista [Futuristic Past], Mateo López's latest project, embraces a multitude of works in which the Colombian artist reflects on architecture, plot, and time from various perspectives and through a vast repertoire of media and crafts.
In this version, designed for NC ARTE, the artist proposes a staging around the body, space, and objects, an installation that includes various artistic devices inviting interaction and bodily exploration.
This proposal particularly clarifies the rich conversation the artist engages in with the history of art and various creative expressions, as well as the respect he grants to the cultural manifestations of indigenous peoples in Colombia and other places.
The comprehensive interrelation constructed by Pasado Futurista [Futuristic Past], also confirms the coherence of the project developed by this artist since the beginning of his creative journey.
The exhibition allows us to understand that Mateo López's exercise began at a point that moved into becoming a creative line of forms on the plane. The artist endowed the plane with a three-dimensional will and then, with confident steps, approached the total space with ambitious symphonic compositions.
