Gráficas Molinari

Gráficas Molinari

It was a popular graphics workshop founded in 1952 by Antonio Molinari in Cali, Colombia. From the 1950s until the 1980s, the company reproduced religious, mythological, genre, portrait, show business, still life and landscape images using chromolithography, a printing technique that allows vivid and unusual color, using more than four inks and special ranges. The sheets were marketed throughout the country and some regions of Latin America, their mass production, mass distribution and low cost made them popular objects that are part of the collective memory.

Gráficas Molinari today is a research and creation project on the development, circulation and uses of popular graphics in Latin America that invites artists, designers, curators, publicists, historians, sociologists or anyone interested in using the images produced by this printing house in their projects.
