In his talk, Bernardo Mosqueira connects cases in Brazilian Literature, cinema, arts, and politics, from the 19th to the 21st centuries, in which the presence of a "monster" disturbs the dynamics of a certain community or society —for good or bad.

Curator, writer, and researcher based in New York and Rio de Janeiro. He is founder and artistic director of Solar dos Abacaxis, Rio de Janeiro (since 2015). ISLAA Curatorial Fellow at the New Museum, New York (since 2021). Director of Premio FOCO ArtRio (since 2012). He was part of the curatorial team of Galeria de Arte IBEU (2011-2015), and organized the performance festival Venus Terra (2011-2014). Mosqueira holds a master's degree in curatorial studies.
