TRANSITORY The need to cling to what is no longer there, wanting to maintain the validity of an image that is in itself impossible, and from a feeling of absence of a real relationship with nature, replaced with an image that represents the vision of the human within the natural space, is the premise from which the pieces of the exhibition Transitory are conceived. This project is based on a dialogue between the image, the material and the environment, from an exploration in the transformation of matter, in this case metal, used as content and as a support for the image itself.

The postal image in Colombia (1900) served as an instrument for the development of symbolic emblems of the territory, which acquired the visual form necessary to become a recognizable icon in its capacity to appropriate a natural space, subject to the symbolic relationship one has with it, whether as a commemoration, an idyllic image or a vestige of a place.

Thus, the determination of a specific place is shaped by the tension between the space itself and the representation of it, being necessary the reproduction of the image to legitimize itself, offering a temporary interpretation of the landscape, substituting the represented place and becoming the same.

The proposal consists of reproducing an iconic image representing a specific landscape on a series of copper sheets, the printing will be done with an oxidizing medium, making the image appear and change over time thanks to the oxidation of the support material. the oxidation of the support material. This is accompanied by a series of paintings made with metallic foil and a video of the transformation process of the same material.

Evelyn Tovar The postcard as a form of communication will be used in this project as an object that establishes a dialogue between images, materials and time. The postcard possesses non-reserved information, with an image that becomes a message, in its capacity to appropriate a natural space subject to the symbolic relationship one has with it, whether as a commemoration, an idyllic image or a vestige of a place. The proposal consists of reproducing an iconic image that represents a specific landscape; the printing is done with an oxidizing medium on a series of copper sheets, making the image appear and change over time thanks to the oxidation of the support material. In this sense, the dialogue is established as a material and symbolic exploration, where the deterioration of the material makes the image changeable and increasingly visible. Evelyn Tovar's artistic project is based on a work of recognition and understanding of the environment, her work is supported symbolically and materially in the cultural and historical imaginary, taking from it both images and processes and materials that are a crucial component in the production of her work. She is interested in the creation of images and objects that allow her to re-signify habitual situations through displacements in the way of seeing and recognizing common images, as a constant search to understand her immediate surroundings. The choice of the material and technique to be used is made according to the symbolic needs of the work and the relationships that it can sustain with the context in which it is set. She has used materials such as paper money, brick and coal dust, asphalt, concrete and live plants among others. Master in plastic and visual arts from the Superior Academy of Arts of Bogota (2007), she has participated in solo exhibitions and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. She has been represented by Otros 360 Grados since 2013 with whom she has participated in Artbo and several international fairs. Some of her work is included in important Latin American private collections.
